Welcome to Messing Village Hall website.

Messing Village Hall was fully refurbished in 2011 and has proved popular with local residents, companies and groups. A wide range of activities take place in the hall, including yoga and fitness classes, drama and art classes, company training days, and receptions and family parties. Do have a look at our Regular Hirers listing for an idea of currently running classes.

The Hall is located opposite the church in the centre of Messing. The nearest station is at Kelvedon and there is easy access to the A12.

We are pleased to announce that we have been able to fully reopen the Hall in accordance with the Government’s advice. Our guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19 can be found on the Hall Documents page.

We look forward to welcoming back our regular hirers and Hall users.

We have used this period of enforced closure to make the necessary preparations to provide a safe environment for all those who use our hall.

To see a list of the current regular activities in the Hall have a look at our Regular Hirers page.

Can you help

Messing Village Hall is a charity and a separate entity from Messing Parish Council. It is run by a Management Committee whose members act as Trustees and are governed by the provisions of The Deed of Trust of 1951.

The Hall has no independent endowment or source of income other than that derived from hiring fees. The expenses of running the Hall, including routine maintenance and repairs to the structure of the property, have to be paid for solely from these.

For over 100 years, generations of Messing residents have voluntarily given their time to help manage and maintain the Hall, so that it is available for all of us to enjoy today. In order to ensure that it continues to be available for future generations, we need volunteers from our current community. Can you help?

The Management Committee needs a steady turnover of Trustees to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the running of the Hall. This is not a particularly onerous commitment, and as a member of the Committee you will be involved at the heart of village life. If you would like to find out more, please contact the Chair of the Committee, currently Mary Mann, on 01621 810706 or email marypmann@gmail.com

The current Trustees are:-

Mary Mann (Chair)

Justina Rhodes (Treasurer)

Steve Smith (Secretary and Hiring Manager)

Andrew Lucas (Building Manager)

Bob Suckling (Parish Council representative)

Sarah Harding

Other Volunteers

The Management Committee is always grateful to have people willing to help out from time to time. If you would like to put your name forward to be available to help out on these occasions, please contact one of the Committee members listed above.
